Vinka orchestrates a fleet of over 400 vehicles in Central Finland

Vinka has created a new, optimized, operation model for orchestrating the on-demand and para-transit services in Central Finland region. The fleet, containing more than 400 vehicles, is operated by JYTAKSI, a local regional taxi service provider and the service automation is produced in co-operation with Sitowise.

The service containing on-demand transport, para-transit and various types of group transports was launched on 1st of June in the municipalities around the city of Jyväskylä. The central city will join the service from the beginning of 2022.

The operational model balances between cost and customer service but also aims to build attractive route chains for local drivers in order to keep them active and interested even outside the peak hours. Service area contains the busy city center of Jyväskylä and the low density rural areas around it. Main operational challenges vary from being able to respond to peak hour demand to ensuring vehicle availability in the rural areas. Automating and optimizing for such different targets requires a tailor-made orchestration model, which Vinka has created for the purpose.
